One of Liverpool’s most prestigious hotels is celebrating their recycling success.
The Richmond Hotel and Spa brought in B&M Waste Services to deliver a comprehensive strategy covering glass, card and paper, plastic, wood and metal.
In less than six months, the hotel in Hatton Garden has gone from no recycling to more than 83 per cent recycled.
The hotel is saving almost 3,000kg of carbon every month, the equivalent of more than 800 car miles.
The Richmond offers guests a mix of apartments, luxury suites and classic rooms together with a brasserie, spa and salon. In addition, the hotel can cater for a range of events and conferences for up to 250 people.
Steven Hesketh, Group Director at The Richmond Hotel, commented: “We are delighted to be working closely with B&M Waste to ensure we are doing the very best we can when it comes to recycling. “A hotel is operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so waste does occur.
However, with the expert help, support and advice we are receiving from the experienced team at B&M, our team are being educated in ways of how we maximise our recycling of cardboard and glass.”
B&M Waste Services is one of the leading independent waste management companies in the North West of England, employing 170 people at its sites in Bromborough, Wirral, Trafford Park, Manchester, and Norwich.
Thomas Aspinall, Business Development Manager for B&M Waste Services, said: “We are experienced working in the hotel and leisure sector and we are delighted with the results we have achieved in partnership with the Richmond.
“The hotel’s staff have been fully committed to the programme we have put in place which goes a long way to explaining why they have been able to go from no recycling to more than 80 per cent in less than six months.”
