North West Boroughs NHS Foundation Trust recycling success!

Working with B&M Waste and B&M Secure Shredding, North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NWBFT) are celebrating landfill diversion levels of over 99%, and protecting patient and staff confidentiality ahead of GDPR regulation changes through using B&M Secure Shredding.

Working together for over 12 years, Carbon Neutral B&M Waste Services and NWBFT have introduced recycling services to separate dry mixed recycling from the general waste  as well as taking general waste which cannot be recycled for processing into green energy at a combined heat and power plant. Which ensures zero waste goes to landfill.

In April 2015 a cost-reducing yet compliant Secure Shredding service was commenced across over 100 Trust sites which 144 locakable consoles placed strategically to encourage staff to shred confidential paperwork, which is firstly shredded then 100% recycled.

North West Boroughs NHS Foundation Trust Julie Westwell, Contract Manager Soft FM Services for the Trust said “The transition over to B&M Secure Shredding was like our waste service, very smooth. Cat and Sarah in the Shredding team, with Dave’s support were very professional and efficient in coming back to me with any queries I had when we first commenced the service, and ongoing the level of service has remained excellent.”

Environmental Reports are produced by B&M Waste demonstrating the amount of waste collected, recycled and energy recovered, as well as the amount of trees and car miles saved in terms of KG of carbon, as waste is diverted from landfill.

Julie commented “The reports we receive offer us an audit trail and are very useful for the Trust’s annual Eric returns to demonstrate the trees and car miles have been saved through utilising B&M Waste and B&M Secure Shredding’s service. The reports are something other NHS Trusts could benefit from. For example, at our Chief Exec question time we use them. When patients and staff ask about recycling, we have the evidence with the reports to back up that we are doing the right thing”

Julie continued “Working with B&M Waste is easy. We’ve always got our account manager Dave Carter on hand for any queries, and when we require additional collections or services they are very speedy to action. I’m extremely confident in B&M Waste as a contractor and Dave as our Account Manager, as it’s simple, they do the job when they say they will, regularly contact me to check all is well and the company divert everything from landfill at a fair price. They saved us money on our previous secure shredding service, and offer us the certification we require to prove we’ve handled everything in line with legislation

David Carter, Account Manager from B&M Waste said “We have a long-term relationship with the Trust, and praise them for introducing recycling and landfill diversion across their sites. With GDPR regulation coming into place they can also rest assured that using our Secure Shredding service, they are dealing with their confidential paperwork as they should.”
