B&M Waste Services is proud to announce its contribution in helping VINCI facilities win this year’s NHS Sustainability Day Award for Biodiversity, sponsored by NHS Forest, after a successful joint effort to improve the environment of a local hospital.
The organisations, with help from children from Robins Lane Community Primary School, supported the event by planting 100 native broad leaved trees to enhance the green spaces at St Helens Hospital. As a result St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust was awarded the Best Biodiversity Initiative.
The trees were donated by B&M as part of its Carbon Neutral Commitment, which also includes supporting Verified Clean Energy Projects around the world.
Bobby Potter, Regional Sales Manager at B&M, said: “Right from the start VINCI Facilities and St Helens Hospital were eager to get involved with our Carbon Neutral programme. The trees will be a great addition to the hospital’s green space and it was fantastic to get local school children involved.”
The award is a positive symbol that B&M Waste Services is strongly committed to working alongside other organisations in the community to improve the environment and the company would like to congratulate VINCI facilities and St Helens Hospital on their achievement.
B&M work with leading sustainability consultants Carbon Footprint Ltd (www.carbonfootprint.com) who have helped them over a number of years to develop their carbon credentials. Carbon Footprint Director, Dr Wendy Buckley said “B&M have established themselves as leaders in sustainability within the waste services sector. Their tree planting is just one aspect of their commitments; it helps to promote biodiversity and support wildlife and also engage school children in environmental stewardship.”
