Magenta Living has worked in partnership with B&M Waste Services to ensure 100% of waste from their head office in Birkenhead is diverted from landfill.
This incredible achievement has allowed the housing organisation to save almost 9,200kg of carbon, which is the equivalent of approximately 6.5 trees and 4,500 car miles.
Over the last 12 months, Magenta Living has made a conscious effort to educate and encourage their 500 staff to recycle. This has resulted in a significant improvement in their onsite recycling which has increased from 10% up to 30% in the last year, a tremendous effort that is the result of a successful intranet and poster campaign designed to educate staff.
Jayne Winders, Executive and Strategic Director at Magenta Living said: “We are so proud of achieving 100% diversion from landfill. Sustainable waste management is very important to Magenta Living and we have made significant improvements since working with B&M Waste Services. In addition they, like us, support local communities and through this, we will encourage our tenants to recycle too.”
Dave Carter, Account Manager at B&M Waste Services said: “The partnership between B&M Waste Services and Magenta Living is fantastic; Magenta Living share our values and commitment which is clear in their forward-thinking approach to recycling and, of course, their excellent achievement of zero to landfill for 2017. I look forward to continuing our partnership and developing even more innovative recycling solutions.”
