Trust prosecuted for data protection breach
3000 patients of East Sussex NHS Trust have been written to after a memory stick containing personal information that was not password protected was lost. The BBC reported that it was later found by a member of the public, and Chief Executive of East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, Darren Grayson, described the incident as “isolated” and emphasized that patient confidentiality and data protection is paramount, and breaches of this are taken “extremely seriously”.
