B&M Waste Services is pleased to announce that it has successfully extended its Carbon Neutral commitment until October 2014.
B&M, one of the first independently owned recycling & waste management companies in the UK to be awarded Publicly Available Specification (PAS) 2060, has offset over five thousand tonnes of carbon dioxide since 2011 by supporting Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) certified clean energy projects around the world.
The projects reduce carbon emissions by providing alternatives to fossil fuels; combating climate change and helping to sustain our environment for future generations.
This year B&M is supporting the Indonesia Landfill Gas Diversion and Power Generation project, which will see sanitary standards improved at the biggest landfill site in Indonesia and crucially equip the site with a landfill-gas capture system. Carbon Footprint Ltd pointed out that by using B&M “the service has a significantly lower carbon footprint compared to similar services currently available on the market.”
As a Carbon Neutral company B&M measures its year-on-year business carbon emissions in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, Defra guidelines and reporting in alignment with ISO 14064-1.
