B&M win Prestigious Business of the Year Award

B&M Waste Services, the North West’s largest independent waste management company, has won a prestigious business award.

B&M City of LiverpoolThe company has been named Business of the Year at the tenth annual City of Liverpool Business Awards. The awards are hosted by leading business pressure group Downtown Liverpool in Business.

B&M, which has sites in Wirral, Manchester and Norwich, provides businesses and organisations with carbon-neutral total waste management solutions including trade waste, hazardous waste, secure shredding, drainage and recycling.

The City of Liverpool Business Awards recognises businesses, community groups, individuals and organisations which make a positive impact to the Liverpool City Region. B&M Waste Services received the Business of the Year Award in recognition of its commitment to helping businesses reduce their impact on the environment.

Neil Curtis, Director of B&M and Head of Waste Management Services said that B&M continually invests in finding new ways to re-use and recycle waste.

Neil said: “B&M’s innovative and competitive solutions for waste segregation are second to none.  We continually invest in new technologies to deliver cost effective services to all our customers which help them reduce their impact on the environment.  We deliver waste management services to organisations across all sectors – ranging from hospitals such as Aintree Hospital and retail giants such as Iceland through to schools, offices, businesses and FM companies. We are absolutely delighted to have received this prestigious accolade from the City of Liverpool Business Awards.”

B&M Downtown Business of the YearIn June 2014 B&M Waste opened a £1million innovative Refuse Derived Fuel facility at its site in Trafford Park, Manchester. The brand new facility recovers and recycles materials such as cardboard, wood, plastic and metals.  The non-recyclable residue waste  is then compacted into bales and wrapped and transported to a CHP (Combined Heat and Power) site in Germany.

Neil said: “B&M Waste Services is a family-owned business which places great emphasis on training and nurturing its staff. I joined the business myself as an apprentice and I understand the importance of offering training and career path opportunities to our young people. We place great value on all of our staff – offering cross training to all staff across all B&M divisions, enabling them to upskill.”
