Carbon neutral, family-run B&M Waste Services in Leeds won not one but two awards at the West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce Raising the Bar Awards last night. Taking home the gong for ‘Environment’ in the medium-sized business category, then doubling the win with the ‘Community’ award too. They were also finalists for the ‘Education’ award.
Held at the beautifully grand Leeds Civic Hall, the Raising the Bar Awards are one of the highlights of the region’s business calendar and celebrate the achievements businesses have made in the key areas of Community, Economy, Education and Environment.
B&M Waste secured the win for the ‘Environment’ award through their commitment to offsetting their carbon footprint, working with customers to achieve zero waste to landfill and investing in eco-friendly fleet vehicles.
Supporting local charity, Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, through fundraising, free advertising across their ‘famous yellow trucks’, sponsorship of the charity’s key events, and cheque donations, B&M Waste won the ‘Community’ award later in the evening, making them the only company to win two awards on the night.
Amber Greenhalgh, Director for B&M Waste, commented; “We’re delighted with the results – and completely surprised, given how incredible the finalists were. It’s been such a wonderful evening and, whilst it’s fantastic to be recognised for the work we’re doing, we’ve come away truly inspired to do even more.”
