Dozens of prestigious hotels in the North West are improving their carbon footprint with the support of a leading waste management company.
Hotels which have implemented successful recycling campaigns include the Hard Days Night Hotel and Richmond Hotel and Spa in Liverpool, Accor Novotel in Liverpool and Jurys Inn in Manchester.
All of the hotels have contracted with B&M Waste Services, the region’s leading independent hotel waste management company, to help them put in place industry-leading campaigns.
Each of the hotels has a comprehensive recycling strategy covering glass, card and paper, plastic, wood and metal.
The combined monthly savings of the seven hotels amount to more than 25,000kg of carbon, the equivalent of almost 7,000 car miles.
The Richmond Hotel and Spa is the most recent hotel to appoint B&M Waste Services. In less than six months, the hotel in Hatton Garden, Liverpool, has gone from no recycling to more than 83 per cent recycled.
The hotel is saving almost 3,000kg of carbon every month, the equivalent of more than 800 car miles.
Steven Hesketh, Group Director at The Richmond Hotel, commented: “We are delighted to be working closely with B&M Waste to ensure we are doing the very best we can when it comes to recycling.
“A hotel is operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so waste does occur. However, with the expert help, support and advice we are receiving from the experienced team at B&M, our team are being educated in ways of how we maximise our recycling of cardboard and glass.”
Thomas Aspinall, Business Development Manager for B&M Waste Services, said: “We are experienced working in the hotel and leisure sector and we are delighted with the recycling results we have achieved in partnership with a number of the region’s best known hotels.”
