Carbon Neutral waste management organisation, B&M Waste Services, and local builders merchant, Beesley & Fildes, have worked together to achieve an impressive improvement in greener waste management.
Both based in the North West, B&M Waste and Beesley & Fildes share similar core values with a focus on sustainability being key. They also share another trait with both businesses being family-run. In fact, 2020 will see the 200th year anniversary for Beesley & Fildes, which was established in 1820 by Robert Beesley of Prescot, Merseyside.
The renowned building merchant worked with B&M Waste for over a decade in the early 2000s and, due to such internal enthusiasm for improving their green credentials and recycling rates, the timber merchants then decided to move their waste management in-house. Whilst the intentions were positive, it was eventually recognised that external expert support was required for such a large operation. B&M Waste were consequently re-approached and the waste collection service resumed.
B&M Waste Services now collects all non-recyclable waste for Beesley & Fildes but, rather than being sent to landfill, it is processed for Refuse Derived Fuel, used to generate heat and electricity.
Thomas Aspinall, B&M Waste Account Manager for Beesley & Fildes, commented; “It’s fantastic to work with, not only a local but also, a fellow family-run business that’s committed to becoming an environmentally-conscious organisation. The fact that Beesley & Fildes’ values align so well with our own is one of the reasons why I believe the partnership works so well; we understand what it is that the business is trying to achieve – and, fortunately, we have the knowledge, experience and resource to ensure they achieve it.”
Steve Robinson, Operations Manager for Beesley & Fildes added; “Since returning to B&M Waste, we’ve had no issues whatsoever; we’re proud to now be more sustainable, certainly more efficient and the service we receive is totally reliable. The relationship with our Account Manager is fantastic; he’s always readily available and proactive.”
