B&M Waste Services announces ambitious expansion plans in the West Midlands.

Recycling-led waste management company is set to open a new Waste and Resource Recycling Centre in Birmingham in Quarter One, 2022.

Established in 1999, family-owned waste and recycling solutions provider, B&M Waste Services, has announced that it has received its Environment Agency permit to operate a new Materials and Recycling Facility in Landor Street as part of its West Midlands growth plans.

The Landor Street premises will also accommodate B&M Waste’s existing West Midlands sales and administration team, currently based in Plume Street. It is also envisaged that new job opportunities will be created, and that these roles will be filled by local people in line with B&M’s philosophy of drawing at least 95% of its workforce from the communities in which it operates.

The new centre will take in the commercial waste collected from businesses across the region, which will be separated on-site, with any recyclable materials such as cardboard, glass, wood and metals prepared for recycling, with the remaining non-recyclable general waste and separated food waste transported to energy recovery facilities.

B&M Managing Director Neil Curtis said: “This is a substantial investment into a facility that will enable us to offer our services to more businesses in Birmingham that are looking to recycle more and waste less to improve their carbon credentials. Being a carbon neutral company ourselves, we send zero waste to landfill, and we are passionate about sharing our ethos and expertise with like-minded companies looking for sustainable waste management solutions, backed up by excellent customer service and innovative ideas.”

B&M offers its waste collection and recycling services to businesses throughout the UK and employs 200 people across its sites in Merseyside, Manchester, Leeds and the West Midlands.

Neil Curtis concluded: “We are forward-thinking company with ambitious expansion plans which will take our services into more geographical areas and sectors. The expansion of our West Midlands operation is intrinsic to our future success and we are excited that we will be increasing our presence and influence there.”
