The Project

Having been disappointed with the service provided by their previous two waste contractors, STL Heating and Energy were looking for a waste contractor that could…

• Offer a reliable waste collection service that would help the firm reduce waste management costs and ensure compliance with current waste management regulations such as TEEP.
• Increase recycling rates through better waste segregation and avoid waste contamination by providing improved segregation solutions.

How B&M Waste Services helped

As B&M Waste Services service other Knowsley businesses, they completed an on-site audit of the site and recommended the best solution to recycling to ensure regulation compliance as well as efficiency of costs for STL.

To improve segregation, two colour-coded Front End Loader (FEL) containers were introduced to separate waste streams, including general waste and cardboard.

B&M’s dedicated front end loader vehicles now collect this waste weekly before taking it back to our Materials Recycling Facility. After the waste has been collected, B&M sort, recover and process all waste material to enhance STL Heating and Energy’s environmental performance.

The Results

Since taking over the project, B&M have provided a cost effective, recycling-led waste management service that is tailored to STL Heating and Energy’s needs.

As the environmental report below shows, STL Heating and Energy now

• Recycle or recover 97.15% of waste produced.
• See 10,817 kg of their waste to be turned into Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) preventing it from reaching landfill.
• Have saved 15,553kg of carbon; the equivalent in carbon offsetting as planting 13 trees.
