Graham Curtis, director of B&M Waste Services, has raised over £4,000 for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research in the Wirral Bikeathon 2014.
Director of B&M Waste services, which has offices in Wirral, Manchester and Norwich, Graham Curtis set about raising as much money as possible for the charity which is dedicated to researching blood cancers such as leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
His efforts were further boosted when B&M promised to match donations made through his JustGiving page. This boosted his grand total from £2,180 to over £4,000, with donations still coming in.
Cycling the longer of two courses, keen cyclist Graham completed the 28 mile course in just under two hours with friend Craig Price of Container Care Solutions after training together for a year.
Graham said about the day: “It was a wonderful day with lots of sun but there were a couple of challenges along the way. We were cycling road bikes through tree roots and mud for the first two miles which got a little bumpy at times.”
“Craig thought I’d lost my mojo about five miles in but when we stopped at the seven mile checkpoint, I noticed that my back brake was actually locked on – no wonder it felt especially difficult!”
“I’d like to thank everybody that donated: it’s a wonderful, worthwhile cause and would like to thank everyone for the kind support.”
All the staff at B&M are very proud of Graham and Craig’s achievement. B&M’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility and the wider community through supporting this well-known and worthy cause.is now further affirmed.
