B&M further vehicle safety commitment

B&M Waste services are putting health and safety once again at the forefront of their operations. B&M’s fleet of over 60 vehicles are legally exempt from a number of safety features being fitted. However, with the interests of fellow road users, including cyclists, at heart they are implementing a scheme of adaptations to maximise the safety of their vehicles while on the roads.

More than 80% of the fleet have now been fitted with side under-run protection to minimise the probability and severity of under-run collisions with vulnerable road users. This is in addition to blind spot cameras, reversing cameras/alarms and indicator induced speech warning message. The intention is to have the above fitted to all fleet by the end of April.

Graham Curtis Director at B&M Waste Services said “Having maintained our OHSAS 18001 accreditation we are constantly looking at ways to reduce the risk our vehicles pose to road users and pedestrians alike, above and beyond any legal requirement. We urge other waste companies to follow suit to further reduce any risk.”
