Talking trash at Bradford Literature Festival with B&M Waste

B&M Waste Services team were invited to speak at this month’s Bradford Literature Festival, which was formed in 2014 and offers a programme of events, discussions, debates and opportunities for attendees to engage directly with world-renowned authors and speakers from across the UK and beyond.

The festival also includes a schools and education programme, offering students and young people access to exciting, engaging and entertaining speakers and lessons for all ages.

On the day, B&M Waste’s Education programme leader, Maria Williams, and Marketing Manager, Jayne Kennedy, took to the stage to engage with schools and local residents and businesses alike, highlighting the need to reduce, reuse and recycle waste that they produce.

B&M Waste Services recently launched their state of the art innovation centre, Milner House, where Education Programme Leader, Maria, creates a day of fun-filled recycling activities under the ‘B&M Little Litter Pickers’ scheme, to inspire the next generation. Speaking at the literature festival, Maria addressed a room of students, eager to learn how they can save the environment through recycling correctly and minimising their waste.

Talking trash, an audience of nearly 50 gathered to listen to B&M Waste Marketing Manager, Jayne Kennedy, discuss waste minimisation tips and ways to avoid creating waste in the first instance. Delegates were very engaged with the talk and asked some fantastic questions to finish B&M’s sessions for the day.

Speaking in reflection of the day, Jayne Kennedy of B&M Waste Services, said: “Bradford Literature Festival is a fantastic way to engage local schools and the community with authors and speakers. Highlighting the impact of our single use, throwaway culture and suggesting simple changes we can all make to adapt to reduce the impact this is having on our environment was so warmly received. We were honoured to be asked to attend as speakers on the day and are grateful to all who attended the event and our panels on the day, their enthusiasm was infectious and made for a fantastic day.”
