B&M Waste Services mark commitment to nominated charity Shelter

B&M Waste Services has marked its commitment to their nominated charity Shelter, the housing and homelessness charity, by emblazoning a truck in their livery.

The wagon will help to raise awareness of the charity as it operates on collection routes across Manchester city centre.

Mick Ashall, Director of B&M Waste Services said: “B&M are incredibly proud to support Shelter, a charity that does fantastic work to help prevent homelessness throughout the UK.

“As our fleet continues to grow, we are delighted to utilise our trucks as a platform to showcase our nominated charity and the work that they do in the communities that we service.

“We hope that those who see the truck in action around Manchester will be inspired to support the work that Shelter do.”

Rachel Pierce, Account Executive for Shelter, said: “We are thrilled to have such a strong symbol of support in Manchester City Centre and are hugely grateful to the B&M Waste Services staff for their invaluable support.”

“Their work will help us to support even more families facing bad housing and homelessness, and make sure that nobody has to fight this battle on their own.”

B&M Waste Services began working with Shelter in 2014 to promote the dangers of sleeping in bins through a ‘Refuse not Refuge’ campaign. Since then, B&M have been supplying Shelter with recycled furniture and bric-a-brac for use in furniture ‘starter packs’ for people who have been homeless, and for sale in their charity shops.

A member of the team, Darrin Percy, is also striving to run 50 marathons by the end of the year – a fitting tribute to mark the 50 year anniversary of Shelter.
