One of the UK’s leading & innovative recycling and waste management companies, B&M Waste Services, have been certificated as Carbon Neutral for the sixth year running. Working with their environmental consultants, Carbon Footprint Ltd , B&M has established itself as a trailblazer, having been one of the very first in the field to achieve carbon neutrality to the exacting standards of the Publicly Available Specification (PAS) 2060.
B&M has always deployed an ethos to minimise carbon footprint in its business operations and client operations and to promote the circular economy. The business provides and innovative Total Waste Management service that includes novel ways to separate and reuse multi-layered plastics for their re-use in original applications.

Over the past year, B&M has been busy rolling out new hybrid electric vehicles across its fleet and explained director Mick Ashall “We are already seeing the impact of the new hybrid vehicles on our fuel use and over the next year we expect to see a very significant reductions in our carbon emissions.”
As with previous years, B&M has taken the further step of offsetting its remaining emissions via certified carbon offset programmes across the World.
This year B&M are supporting a Gold Standard Verified Emission Reductions (VER) Landfill Gas reclaim project in Turkey and also a UK Tree Planting – Brazil Avoided Deforestation Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) project.
Added Mick, “We are continuing to support the work of the landfill reclaim project, due to its close synergies to our waste services.”
Carbon Footprint’s Dr Wendy Buckley explained the UK Tree Planting programme’s importance, “B&M are providing native broad leaf tree species to a group of clients to plant on their sites. As well as sequestering harmful CO2 emissions, the trees support biodiversity and provide habitats for wildlife. Additionally, with a number of trees being planted at schools, this further adds to B&M’s commitment to assist the educational sector in their efforts to become more sustainable.”
‘The Trees are also ‘buddied’ with Avoided Deforestation carbon offset credits which means that for every tree that is planted in the UK a tree in protected in the Amazon, which is an amazing combination to protect biodiversity.”
