B&M continue charity commitment into 2015

As a family-run business, B&M Waste Services charity commitment has been unwavering throughout the years. We work within the community to support charities close to our hearts as part of our corporate social responsibility policy. We have a long history of supporting Claire House Children’s Hospice, a North-West based hospice offering respite and end of life care to terminally ill children and young adults: in 2014, we hit a milestone of an incredible £30,000 of donations to the hospice, in addition to spending time volunteering at the site. We began working with Shelter, the Housing and Homelessness Charity, in 2014 as our national nominated charity and have raised over £6,000 during campaigns throughout the year.

B&M Waste Services charityThis year we are working with Shelter to continue providing recycled furniture and bric-a-brac for upcycling and sale within their charity shops in the UK. As part of the clearance service that we offer to businesses, B&M will pass on furniture that is in good condition for upcycling, selling or for use in ‘starter packs’ for families which have been found accommodation but have no possessions.

In addition we have a member of the B&M team, Darrin Percy, who is aiming to complete 50 marathons before the end of 2015 and raising money for Shelter along the way. JustGiving link.

One of our most prominent projects for 2015 is to dedicate one of our trucks to carrying the Shelter branding, helping to raise the profile of the charity within the Greater Manchester region. You may have seen our Claire House branded truck around the Wirral and we’re hoping our Shelter vehicle be an equally huge success.

Meanwhile, coming up for Claire House, the team are getting stuck into challenging themselves in order to raise as much money as possible. With a nine-strong team training hard for Tough Mudder in September, we also have two company directors taking on the London to Paris bike ride for the charity.

Since August 2014, B&M Secure Shredding have been donating 10% of the cost of each shredding bag purchased to Claire House.

As a socially responsible company we are always look for new ways to further our commitment to our nominated charities in new and exciting ways and look forward to a busy year in 2015.
