B&M Waste’s very own Chairman Ken Curtis is celebrating today after completing this year’s Wirral Bikeathon to raise much needed funds for Bloodwise.
Bloodwise, formerly Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, is an established UK cancer charity that has been beating blood cancers since 1960. This year’s annual Wirral Bikeathon took place on 11th June, aiming towards a total target of £1 million raised for the charity by 2018.
The ride started at Arrowe Country Park in Upton, Wirral, and cyclists followed a 15 or 28 mile route, combing public highways and off-road along the scenic Wirral Way.
Ken Curtis, Chairman at B&M Waste Services took part in the ride, meeting local Olympic Gold Medalist and world record cycling champion Chris Boardman along the way. He commented “What a great day we’ve had raising money for such a valuable cause. The morale was boosted by the crowds and bands along the way, but nothing is quite so motivational in keeping us going than the reason which we were taking part, to raise money for such a worthwhile charity. And no electric bike was used!”
Congrats to Ken and all who took part!
